My name is Jennie and I attended Sing & Sign classes with my daughter.  I was intrigued to see what it was all about, would my baby actually be able to sign and communicate with me? So I went along with a friend.  My daughter was 12 months old when we began (although babies can start from 7 months).  She instantly enjoyed the musical and social side of the class, and we both loved going to our classes!  It was fun and entertaining for us both.

Each week we learned the signs through songs and play, then put them into practice at home! It was a simple concept that was fun for both of us. Being consistent at home and adding some simple signs into our routine was the key to its success, as in a short time my husband and I were thrilled to see her signing in response to us, it was so exciting!  Not to mention lots of fun!  The first signs she used were to tell us that she wanted ‘more’ of something, and that she wanted her ‘milk’!

It enabled her to open a dialogue with us, and took away the frustration that babies can feel through not being 
understood. It had a calming influence on the household! We completed 4 terms of Sing and Sign, and she became a very competent little signer (she would sit next to the teacher and copy her, joining in with the songs!).

Now aged 3 and a half, her speech is incredibly clear and confident, and she has a very wide vocabulary.  From an early age she has spoken clearly and many people have commented on it.  I firmly believe that Sing & Sign hugely contributed to this, and many others who have attended class say the same.
Research shows that signing boosts speech and language development in babies and toddlers, and I have to say from our experience this is true.

I enjoyed Sing and Sign so much that I applied to teach it, and later took over the local Franchise.  Having seen the benefits and joys of baby signing first hand, I could not wait to pass on my knowledge and share it with everyone else!

I would thoroughly recommend joining a baby signing class, as the benefits are many fold. As well as learning to sign, it is a wonderful way to build on the bond between you and your baby, not to mention a good way of making some new friends!
